What is Rainbow Trust?

Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity provides support to families with children aged 0-18 who are facing a life-threatening or terminal illness.

Why does Rainbow Trust help?

It is estimated that 86,625* children in England are living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions—a number that has tripled in the last 17 years and continues to rise. Thousands of families are confronted with the heart-breaking reality that their child may not survive and struggle with the challenges of everyday life. Our Family Support Workers offer a vital lifeline to these families and children.

How does Rainbow Trust help?

When a child faces a serious illness, family life is completely disrupted, and every moment together becomes even more precious. Rainbow Trust pairs each family with a dedicated Family Support Worker who provides both practical and emotional support, helping them make the most of their time together—whenever and for as long as needed.

Our support extends to the entire family, including parents, carers, the ill child, siblings, and grandparents. The type of support is tailored to each family’s unique needs and can include:

  • Listening to a family’s fears and anxieties
  • Helping explain illnesses, diagnoses, and treatments
  • Providing companionship to a seriously ill child during hospital stays
  • Driving families to medical appointments, saving time and money
  • Organizing fun activities for the sick child and their siblings
  • Offering support through bereavement and grief.
