Autumn 1

The children in Reception made a great start to their school year. They settled into our Unit very quickly and began to make many new friends.  The first topic of the year was 'What do I do with water?' The children loved exploring water particularly through science where they had the opportunity to make their own river outside, test which objects made the biggest splash and which material was the best at cleaning Mrs Wishy-Washy's farm animals!

Have a look at the photographs below to see what we have been up to!

In maths the children have been learning how to sort and match objects by colour, size and shape. Learn about the language of size using 'big, biggest, small, smallest, tall, tallest, short, shortest' and sort objects accordingly. They have enjoyed using balance scales to discover which objects weigh the heaviest/lightest.
